LBAC operates a strict membership policy. Applications for membership must be considered by the Board of Directors for approval. All member businesses must agree to adopt and abide by the strict operating protocols for the crime reduction scheme.

These protocols have been developed in partnership with key statutory bodies, including the Information Commissioner, the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police, the Association of Chief Police Offciers and Safer Lambeth.

Designed to ensure that the Scheme is only used to prevent, to deter and apprehend criminals, LBAC has taken proven best practice from around the country and has developed a unique set of protocols designed to transfer that best prectice - what works, how it works and why it works - into Lambeth.

Successful crime reduction strategy - to benefit both your "bottom line" as a business enterprise and secure overall regeneration and community safety objectives - requires a strict approach to information exchange with the police, CPS, magistrates and other government institutions.

The process of developing a business crime prevention and crime reduction scheme for Lambeth took two years of careful planning and preparation. LBAC partner agencies have been committed to putting in place a formal framework to empower the business community and offer committed businesses a central role in reducing the opportunity for crimes to be committed by greatly increasing the risk to the offender of committing a crime.

Other London Boroughs, including Croydon, Lewisham and the Olympic Gold Boroughs are working to adopt borough-wide schemes and make London safe for staffs, customers and business.

At the heart of LBACs membership policy is a desire to produce a real benefit fo all businesses in Lambeth. Members have seen major reductions in business crime.
