LBAC
Seeking to identify and deter criminals impacting on business profitability, Local Businesses Against Crime (LBAC) is an independent business crime reduction partnership managed and funded solely by the business community.  The Board of Management operate the partnership on behalf of the business partners and in close cooperation with statutory agencies.  First established as a local business crime reduction partnership in 2005 the partnership has worked closely with Retailers Against Crime North-East (RACNE), other crime reduction partnerships and key business partners to develop a fully scalable  local, regional and national not for profit business crime reduction solution.
Information on business crime and acts of violence in the workplace is submitted to LBAC, analyzed and intelligence bulletins are produced featuring images of suspects and circulated to members, crime partnerships and police.
For LBAC business partners, there are proven results clearly demonstrating LBAC works in deterring losses in stores and by identifying those responsible.  The resultant reduction in loss immediately covers cost of the scheme to a partner business.
The success of LBAC is founded on the basis that a security network is created involving businesses, police and security professionals.  It is acknowledged by LBAC that both individual businesses and shopping centres employ security professionals within their premises to deter crime against business.  It is through this integration and on site personnel that the effects of the partnership are most effective.
LBAC also benefits the public and the wider community by raising awareness through training programs in order to prevent incidents of crime and the threat of crime by:

The Retail Crime Survey issued by the British Retail Consortium states that retail crime cost UK retailers £1.1 billion in 2009/10.  Customer theft accounted for 74% of this figure.  Professional criminals who steal to order and use sophisticated methods to dispose of their gains commit a significant proportion of this crime.  They are frequently involved in other criminal activities including drugs, robbery, housebreaking and fraud.  LBAC is a tried and tested model and provides a tool to assist with this problem.
In today’s commercial climate, not only are staff, security and loss prevention personnel faced with local area criminals, but they are also challenged by professional travelling criminals who are proving to be prolific throughout London and the UK.

It is only through the intelligence provided by LBAC that such individuals and teams can be detected and activities prevented.  Information on individuals and teams is circulated immediately to partners based on area(s) of operation using the Cr:iisp crime-fighting secure solution which allows shops, hotels, pubs and clubs to instantly share information about regular trouble makers.  It uses specialist software to deliver images, information and intelligence to members, provide online incident reporting and crime alerts to keep members fully up-to-date about targeted, travelling and excluded offenders locally, regionally and nationally.
The Cr:iisp partnership solution ensures any information or intelligence which is shared is done so in full compliance with the data protection act and will meet the new stringent requirements.
